MLQU and Makarius Smart Learning Ink MOA to Operationalize AI Across Teaching, Assessment, and Student Services

July 18, 2025Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) and Makarius Smart Learning have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to accelerate responsible AI adoption across the university’s classrooms and support units. The collaboration is purpose-built to translate AI from “proofs of concept” into day-to-day academic value—improving learning quality, faculty efficiency, and graduate readiness.

Why this partnership stands out

  • Impact first, not hype: Projects are tied to clear learning and service KPIs—faster feedback cycles, higher engagement, and improved mastery rates—so stakeholders see measurable gains.
  • Faculty at the center: Educators get practical enablement and classroom playbooks before any large-scale rollout.
  • Governance woven in: Data privacy, transparency, and academic integrity policies are embedded into every implementation track.

Workstreams under the MOA

  1. AI-supported instruction & assessment
Lesson design aids, formative checks, rubric-based feedback assistants, and streamlined grading flows that augment—not replace—academic judgment.
  2. Capability building & change management
Short-form academies, co-teaching labs, and micro-credentials to help instructors responsibly adopt AI within their disciplines.
  3. Student success & employability
Outcome mapping, skills signaling, and portfolio artifacts that align with industry expectations and help students tell a stronger story to employers.
  4. Policy, risk & ethics
Campus-wide guidance for responsible AI use, including model transparency, bias mitigation, and integrity safeguards.

Technology in focus

  • PathBuilder — competency mapping, outcome heatmaps, and program-level visibility that surface gaps early and track progress over time.
  • FutureClassroom — HyFlex-ready learning environments and digital delivery tools that support modern, flexible instruction.

First 90 days: from plan to proof

  • Enable: Instructor onboarding sprints and “bring-your-course” workshops producing ready-to-ship materials.
  • Pilot: Controlled deployments in select courses with baseline metrics and weekly learning reviews.
  • Validate & expand: Scale to additional programs based on evidence of improved feedback speed, engagement, and mastery.

Anchored to the UN SDGs

The partnership advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) by lifting instructional quality and access, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through resilient digital learning infrastructure, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) via a durable academia–industry model that other institutions can emulate.
