Hi, students or reviewers! This article is especially written for you and included here are recommended tips from many successful people who have walked the path you’re in now. May these tips not only help you pass the exams, but also possibly thrive and finish with flying colors. Please do note that you don’t have to absorb and apply all these tips one big time. You may just pick one, just take what you can and bring it alongside with you on your studying journey. Are you ready? Then, let’s jump to our first tip.
1. Know the best time for you to study.
Once you identify this, you’re one step closer to passing your exams.
We all have that “optimal time” wherein our brains can acquire new information.
Are you a morning person or a night owl? What specific time of the day do you find your brain active and capable of focusing? Try this first step first. If you’re ready to know more, head on to our next 4 tips.
2. Know your pacing or studying rhythms.
Do you consider yourself as someone who learns fast or are you someone who takes your time?
What is the ideal process of studying for you: is it studying one big time or do you find it more ideal to distribute your hours of studying?
Is it more okay for you to study closer to the exam days or will it help you to study weeks ahead — focusing on one-two subjects per day?
However it looks like for you, identifying your rhythms will make it more realistic for you to pass the exams.
3. Take good care of your health.
Along with studying, do you also look after your health? Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep is very essential to help your brain receive the information you’ve learned. Do you take vitamins or are healthy foods part of your eating plan? If this is hard for you, try to get an accountability partner or ask for your parents or guardians to do it for you. Doing this is very crucial, especially during very important exams
4. Know your subject strengths and weaknesses.
This tip is also crucial and often the most overlooked of all. A notable professor advised that it’s better to know this so you know what you can focus more on during your time of studying. Here’s the golden tip: if you’re already good at a certain subject, you may simply skim and test your expertise since you’re already good at it. Then, once you identified your strength subject(/s), then now’s the time to focus at least 70% of your time on the subject you’re having a hard time understanding. May this tip help you so that you don’t only excel in one subject. Instead, through this hopefully, no subject will be left behind.
5. Know the best learning environment for you to study.
Do you find it best to study alone or with a peer or group?
How about the place: are you able to focus more on quiet, peaceful environments or are you more driven towards busy, lively places?
Do you also prefer studying outside or does it suit you best to study at home?
However it looks like for you, you always have the choice. Pick the one that you think will be best for you. Knowing this might not only gauge your focus, but also possibly, make learning fun/enjoyable for you.
And now, for the additional tip that has worked for many: “surrender everything to God.”
